Why use a pleated cartridge
Pleated cartridges are designed to separate particulates from gaseous and liquid streams. They do not coalesce liquids. Pleated Cartridges can have up to about 3 times the surface area of standard depth filters all in all.
Typically, Pressure Drop is the most obvious reason that a filter cartridge should to be changed. As the pressure drop increases across the filter, it causes the compressor to work harder which increases energy cost inevitably. Since Pressure Drop accounts for up to 3/4 of the cost of ownership of a filter cartridge, it makes sense to use pleated cartridges with extended life. Even if the upfront expense is typically higher than a standard non-pleated cartridge, there is an essential cost savings over time.
