Features
Shoe racks can have flat or angled shelves to place pairs of shoes on. These surfaces can be solid or open. Some of the upright racks have pockets that you put each shoe into. Others have wide metal hooks that you place the shoes over. Shoe racks can be one piece or are available with stackable and expandable features also.
Identification
Shoe racks are often called by other names because of their design. Shoe trees are vertical shoe racks usually made of metal with a center pole, weighted bottom and numerous tiers to hold shoes. Shoe cubbies are available in cardboard, plastic or wood. They are shaped in a square or rectangle and have several rows of small "cubbies" to place shoes in. Shoe racks are also sometimes referred to as shoe closets, cabinets or stands.
Considerations
There is a lot to think about prior to purchasing a shoe rack. This includes the number, type and size of the shoes you have. Some shoe racks are designed for a specific gender or dimension of shoes. Others can be adjustable to hold varying types together. The location of it and the décor of the area may also be important to keep in mind.
