The heat-resistance properties of Stainless Steel 304 are important if you plan to use this material in home projects or in the kitchen. The Stainless Steel 304 is known for durability through a range of environments--but the material isn't invincible. In temperatures above 60 degrees C, Stainless Steel 304 could begin to crack.
At maximum, Stainless Steel 304 can only withstand temperatures up to 1,650 degrees F (899 degrees C). Because of its high heat-resistance, Stainless Steel 304 is often used in welding projects. Like many kinds of steel, Stainless Steel 304 will begin to crack in extreme, abrupt temperature changes.

Prolonged exposure to moisture will have a corrosive effect on stainless steel, so keep the material dry whenever possible. Because steel corrodes with high levels of water exposure, Stainless Steel 304 may not be suited for continuous outdoor use.
