How to Remove Rust from a BBQ

Datetime:2013-09-30 Hits:

Many families barbecue during the summer months. But during the off-season the barbecue grill can become dirty and rusted. Maintenance is important for keeping the grill safe to use. It is necessary to clean the grill every time you use it. A BBQ grill can last for years if you take care of it. Removing rust stains as soon as they appear is important. No one wants to eat food with rust flakes.

Instructions

1 Heat up the barbecue. Turn on the grill and let it heat up for a short time. Then turn it off. Grills are easier to clean when warm.

2 Scrub off rust. Buy a grill scraper or grill stone from a hardware store or online. Use either one to scrub the rust from the grills and other parts of the barbecue that have rust stains.

3 Disassemble the grill. Remove those parts of the grill that are designed to come off. Use dish-washing detergent mixed in warm water to clean the parts, including the grill.

4 Apply natural oil. Apply cooking oil or natural oil with a paper towel to prevent rust.
