How to Mount Metal Magazine Racks
Magazine racks are designed to be mounted to a wall and hold magazines in a convenient location. Made from plastic, wood or metal, magazine racks can be mounted in various areas throughout a home. Metal magazine racks commonly have mounting holes or tabs for securing the rack to a wall. Using the proper mounting hardware and tools will help make sure the rack is securely fastened.
Instructions
1 Choose a location for the metal magazine rack that will allow for easy access and will not interfere with doors, drawers or other objects.
2 Position the rack on the wall. Transfer the location of mounting holes or tabs in the metal rack onto the wall with a pencil.
3 Drill a pilot hole with a drill and small-diameter drill bit. Choose a drill bit that is smaller than the screw or screw-in anchor to be used.
4 Mount the rack to the wall with wood screws when attaching to a wooden stud in the wall. Insert the wood screw through the mounting hole or tab in the rack. Attach the rack to the wall by driving the screws securely into the pilot holes with a screwdriver.
5 Insert screw-in drywall anchors into the wall when a stud is not located. Drive the screw-in anchors into the pilot hole in the wall with a screwdriver. Insert screws through the mounting hole or tab in the rack and drive the screws into the anchors in the wall securely.
