How to Hang Kitchen Racks
A way to save cabinet space is by storing pots and pans on a hanging kitchen rack. Kitchen racks are designed to fit eight to nine foot ceilings. Kitchen racks are typically metal and come in a wide variety of styles. Racks are heavy, especially when full of pots and pans, therefore it is essential to hang them properly. Kitchen racks come unassembled and with all the hardware needed for hanging. Follow the assembly instructions to put together your rack. Then, with just a few basic tools you can install a kitchen rack on your own.
Instructions
1 Use a stud finder to locate the ceiling joists at the part of the ceiling you want to hang the rack. Mark the joists with a pencil.
2 Read the manufacturer's instructions for how far apart to space each ceiling hook. Measure and mark where each ceiling hook will go. Make sure that each hook will be attached to a joist.
3 Drill pilot holes in the joists for each ceiling hook. Use a drill bit that is slightly smaller than diameter of the ceiling hook.
4 Screw the ceiling hooks into the holes. Aim the open ends of each hook outwards.
5 Insert the S hooks onto the hanging brackets on the kitchen rack. Aim the open ends of each hook outwards.
6 Hang the chains from the ceiling hooks. Connect the hanging ends of the chains to the S hooks on the kitchen rack. You are now ready to hang your pots and pans.
