How to Cover a Wire Basket with Material
Wire baskets are sturdy and lend themselves to a variety of different uses. Covering a wire basket with material is an easy way to dress it up. Choose a fabric with a theme or a design that fits with the purpose of your basket.
Instructions

Measure the sides of your wire basket. Measure the circumference of the rim of the basket with a measuring tape. Record the dimensions of your basket.

Make a pattern. Trace the bottom of your basket on a piece of butcher paper. Cut out the pattern and label it "A."

Flip the basket over and trace the rim of the wire basket on another sheet of paper. Add the length of the sides plus 2 inches all the way around the tracing. Cut out the pattern and label it "B."

Draw two identical rectangles. The long sides of the rectangles should equal half of the circumference of the rim of the wire basket plus 1 inch. The short sides should be the length of the sides of the wire basket plus 1 inch. Cut out the pattern.

Pin the patterns to the fabric with straight pins. Cut through the material around the edges of the paper patterns with scissors. Remove the patterns from the material.

Turn the short sides of the rectangular pieces of fabric over 1/2 inch. Sew the edge down using a 1/4-inch seam allowance.

Pin the rectangles around the edges of the material cut from pattern B, right sides together. Sew on the rectangles using a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Remove the pins as you sew.

Place the fabric cut from pattern B into the bottom of the wire basket. Glue the fabric in place with a hot glue gun, right side up.

Place the bottom of the basket into the center of the wrong side of the fabric cut from pattern A. Position the basket so the handles of the wire basket correspond to the space between the two rectangles.

Bring the material up around the sides of the basket until the seam touches the rim of the basket. Glue the seam to the rim of the basket. Flip the rectangles into the basket so they line the sides of the wire basket. Glue the fabric in place.

Wrap ribbon around the handle of the wire basket. Glue the ends of the ribbon to the wire frame with super glue.
