How to Build a Wine Glass Hanging Rack
Wine glasses are decorations themselves when you hang them upside down in your kitchen or dining room. They catch the light and sparkle with the movement of people and objects in the room. Not only are they decorative, but they also make for easy access to your glasses when you are entertaining. Hanging your wine glasses will free up space in your cupboards for other things. Try hanging them on a wall rack to keep them accessible but out of the way.
Instructions
1 Lay out the sides of the wine rack by laying out two 6-inch-wide, 1-inch-thick and 36-inch-long finished boards, parallel to each other.
2 Space out four cross sections, each 6 inches wide, 18 inches long and 1/2-inch thick, of finished wood between the two side pieces, laying them 10 inches apart between the side boards.
3 Drill a 3/4-inch hole in the center of each of the cross sections on the flat side. Measure 3 inches out in both directions to drill the next two holes, again in the center of the flat side. Repeat for the next two holes so that there are now five holes in the cross section.
4 Drill out the rest of the cross sections in the same way so that you now have four cross sections with five holes in the center of each.
5 Use a jigsaw to cut out 3/4-inch-wide slots from one edge of the cross sections straight in to the predrilled hole. Cut slots in each of the cross sections.
6 Drill two pilot holes on the ends of the cross sections, 1 inch in from each side. Drill pilot holes down the sides of the side sections, also 1 inch in from each side, starting 2 inches from the top and then 10 inches apart.
7 Screw wood screws in from the outside of the side boards into the ends of each of the cross sections. Dab a little wood glue into each hole before inserting the screws.
8 Attach heavy picture-hanging hardware to the back of the wine glass rack and secure to screws set into the studs of the wall.
9 Slide wine glasses into the slats.
