How to Build a Heated Bird Cage
Many people share their homes with pet birds that require climates warmer than humans find comfortable. To prevent their pets from becoming ill from drafts and effects of air-conditioned interiors, pet owners need to provide heated enclosures for their birds. One of the easiest places for birds to lose heat from is their feet, so having a heated perch can add a great deal of comfort for a pet bird.
Instructions
1 Determine the best place in your home to place your birdcage. This should be a location in a low-traffic area away from breezes and vents. Hang the heat panel on wall next to where the cage will be located by following the hanging instructions provided with the unit. Plug the heat panel in.
2 Hang or put the birdcage on its stand directly in front of the heat panel. Place the heated perch inside the birdcage by following the instructions provided with the perch.
3 Place a cover over the birdcage. There should be no loose strings on the cover for the bird to chew on. The cover can be open most of the way during the day and fully closed at night.
4 Monitor the temperatures of the heat panel and heated perch using their temperature dials and thermostats.
