Home fire caused by unattended barbecue grill

Extra pumper and emergency medical units were called to the scene of a home fire at 4:26 p.m. June 30 that started because of an unattended barbecue grill.
Firefighters worked in extreme heat of temperatures over 100 degrees.
The fire at at home at 2115 N. 3rd St. was caused by an unattended barbecue grill, according to a Fire Department spokesman.
The estimated loss was $15,000 to property and contents.
Crews arrived at the scene of the fire within 2 minutes and found heavy fire at the rear of the home. All the residents had already evacuated the building, according to the spokesman.
The fire was brought under control in 17 minutes. There were no injuries, the spokesman said.
