Hang Metal Bathroom Racks
Datetime:2013-03-21 Hits:
Metal bathroom Racks are a popular accessory in bathrooms where storage is limited. The bathroom rack will often provide storage for clean towels as well as a towel bar for towels being currently used. Some racks have several shelves and can accommodate different towel sizes. These racks are available in almost any finish, and their designs range from sleek and modern to whimsical and floral.
Instructions
1
Measure the location where you want to position the bathroom rack to make sure the towel rack will fit. When possible, locate the rack where it will not be blocked by an open door. The rack should also be in proximity with the sink or tub area where it will be used. A good location is often above a commode or on a wall adjacent to a bathtub or shower.
2
Locate studs in the area where you want to mount the bathrooml rack. Most newer houses have wall studs at 16 inches on center. Once you find one stud, you should be able to measure to find the next one. Make a small mark on the wall with an S in pencil to be able to easily identify this location. At least one side of the bathroom rack should mount securely to a stud.
3
Adjust where the bathroom rack can be positioned in order to allow several mounting holes to align with the studs. Use a level and a mounting template to mark the mounting hole locations on the wall. (Some racks include a paper template to make marking holes easier.) Use the bathroom rack held in a level position to mark the mounting holes if you do not have a template.
4
Drill holes at the locations where no stud is available. Insert toggle-type wall anchors into the drilled holes.
5
Screw mounting plates or the rack to the locations and wall anchors you have marked or installed. Screw the rack to the mounting plates with a power screw driver for those racks with a separate mounting plate. With some racks there is a bezel that slides over the mounting plates after you have screwed the rack to the plate. Your hardware kit will include a small hex tool to tighten the bezel and hide the mounting plate.
