The shape, form and open weave of a vintage wire egg basket provide a wide variety of options for home decorating. The shape of the basket depends on the time period and area in which it was made. Large egg baskets make excellent storage for magazines, newspaper and yarn. Place or hang the empty vintage egg basket in a space that requires only a subtle hint of line. Add decorative items to the inside of the basket or through the open weave to provide more flare to the area.

Floral Decorated Vintage Wire Egg Basket

Cut the floral stems or vines into 12- to 18-inch pieces.

Weave the floral stem or vine back and forth through the wire on the bottom edge of the vintage wire egg basket. Repeat the process around the top edge.

Place the battery compartment for the battery-operated rice lights inside the basket. Weave the rice lights back and forth through the floral stems or vines woven along the bottom edge of the basket.

Secure the battery pack to the bottom of the vintage wire egg basket with a wire tie. Cut the end of the wire tie flush with the battery pack.

Place the decorated basket on the floor in a viewable location.
Vintage Wire Egg Basket Bathroom Decoration

Wrap a piece of ribbon around the outside bottom edge of the vintage wire egg basket. Overlap the ribbon by 6 inches and cut.

Weave the ribbon back and forth through the wire at the bottom edge of the basket.

Wrap a piece of ribbon around the circumference of the basket just above the previously woven ribbon. Add 6 inches and cut the ribbon at the mark.

Weave the ribbon back and forth through the wire opposite of the row beneath to create a basket weave look. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until the entire height of the basket is woven with ribbon.

Place bath towels, hand towels or wash clothes in the basket. Sit the basket next to the bathtub.
