Connect Clips for Stacking Steel Shelving
Datetime:2014-04-14 Hits:
Steel shelving consists of support poles, shelves and clips to hold the shelving unit together. The clips of the shelving unit uses a tapered design coupled with friction and pressure to hold each shelf to the unit's support legs. You can adjust each shelf after installation, as the clips are removable and reusable. The retaining ring is susceptible to damage and can break between installations. Carefully selecting the locations to install the shelving clips will provide a trouble-free space storage solution for your home.
Instructions
1
Separate the shelf-mounting clips from the rest of the shelving unit. Make sure you have eight clip halves for each shelf contained in the shelving unit. Inspect the support legs of the shelving unit; you'll notice notches set 1 inch apart.
2
Place 1/2 of a mounting clip on the lowest point of the support leg where you want to install a shelf. Slide the half clip until it clicks into a groove on the support leg. Push another half clip onto the support leg, aligned with the half you already installed on the leg. The two halves will click together. Make sure the thinnest tapered end of the clip is facing toward the top of the shelving unit.
3
Install one clip on each support leg to match the height of the first clip you installed.
4
Slide each leg into one corner of the shelf until the shelf sits firmly on the mounting clips of each leg. Stand the unit upright.
5
Measure the distance between the bottom shelf and the location you want to install the top shelf with the tape measure. Divide the measurement by two.
6
Set a shelf-mounting clip on each support leg, at the divided measurement you obtained in Step 5, above the bottom shelf. Slide another from the top of the shelving unit until the shelf rests on the installed mounting clips.
7
Repeat to install the next shelf and the top shelf, which will install last.
