Cleaning Oven Racks Naturally
Datetime:2013-04-26 Hits:
Grease and burned food appear on oven racks due to items spilling onto them. Since it is very likely that you will not immediately notice the racks are dirty, such problems could remain on the racks for a long time. Harsh oven cleaners eliminate the stains, but these products can irritate the skin or cause damage to other areas of your home. Two products make for an all-natural cleaner that will have your oven racks shining like new.
Instructions
1
Remove the racks from the oven. Put a stopper in the drain of the bathtub, then place a towel or towels at the bottom of the bathtub so the oven racks do not leave scratches or stains on the tub.
2
Fill the tub with roughly 1/2 to 1 gallon of white vinegar. Add about 2 cups of baking soda inside the tub. A fizzing reaction occurs and the liquid rises. Wait until the reaction stops.
3
Fill the rest of the tub with hot water. Soak the oven racks for one hour.
4
Scrub the racks thoroughly with a soaked sponge. Continue scrubbing until all grease, food particles and stains are removed from the racks.
5
Repeat Steps 1 through 4 as necessary until the racks are completely clean. Then rinse the racks with tap water. Wait until the racks are completely dry or manually dry them before placing them back inside the oven.
