Clean a Stove Hood Filter

Datetime:2013-07-01 Hits:

A stove hood ventilates the kitchen from steam and smoke, and it filters grease and food particles from the air by means of a washable filter that catches dust, grease and food particles. The filter should be cleaned monthly, or whenever it appears dirty. The cleaning process is fairly simple, but removing the filter will vary depending on what brand and model of stove hood you have.
Instructions
1
Remove the filter from the underside of the stove hood. Removal will vary based on the brand and model, but the filter is usually held in place by a cover that pops in and out or is screwed on. Unscrew the cover or pop it out, then remove the filter.
2
Fill a sink with hot water and a squirt of grease-cutting liquid dish soap. Place the filter in the sink.
3
Soak the filter for 15 to 30 minutes, or longer depending on how much grease is on the filter.
4
Lift the filter out of the water. Use a soft-bristled brush to clean away any remaining debris, particles and grease.
5
Rinse the filter under hot water and allow to air dry.
6
Reinstall the filter once it is completely dry. Replace the filter cover.
