Clean Rusty Grill Grates
Datetime:2014-06-19 Hits:
Rust often develops on grill grates if you live in a particularly wet climate, and if you haven't used your grill in a while. Check your grill every few weeks for rust and remove it immediately. You can remove most rust with a basic cleaning process, but sometimes the rust is too extensive and you will need to replace the grates.
Instructions
1
Heat your grill for at least 15 minutes.
2
Brush the rust with a brass-bristled grill brush. Brush lightly to begin so that you don't damage the grates. Gradually increase the pressure if the rust is still visible.
3
Sprinkle baking soda over the rusted portion of the grill if it is still visible.
4
Close the grill lid and keep it heated until the baking soda begins to bubble.
5
Brush the baking soda into the hot grill grates to remove the rest of the rust.
