Clean Grills With Rust
Datetime:2014-08-06 Hits:
Barbecue grills are notorious for having a rusty grill the next season. Don't despair, most rust can be removed and prevented if the grill is cleaned properly. Remove the rust before cooking on the grill to avoid rust in the food. Cleaning and oiling the grill after each use would prevent rust from forming in the future.
Instructions
1
Cover the cooking grids with foil to help concentrate the heat.
2
Close the lid and turn the gas grill on high for 10 minutes. Turn the grill off and allow it to cool. Remove the foil. If using a charcoal barbecue, skip this step.
3
Remove debris using a brass-bristled wooden-handle brush made for cleaning grills.
4
Clean the grill using a brass mesh-scrubber. If the grill is porcelain coated, use a non-stick plastic scrubber, and hot soapy water.
5
Wad up fresh aluminum foil, and use it to scrub any remaining food or rust from the grill.
6
Rinse the racks well, and allow them to dry in a warm sunny location. If using a gas grill, place the racks in the grill, and turn it on low for a few minutes.
7
Allow the grills to cool, and coat them with vegetable oil.
8
Repeat this process after using your barbecue grill each time to avoid rust.
