Clean Greasy Kitchen Range Hood Vents
Datetime:2013-06-26 Hits:
You've just bought your first house and can't believe your eyes when you look into the range hood vent. The fan that was polished to a shine on the outside looks like it's never been touched underneath, and you haven't a clue how to clean it. Greasy range hood vents aren't as impossible to clean as you might expect; all you'll need is some elbow grease and common household products to make that hood look like new.
Instructions
1
Remove the range hood filter (if there is one) and place it in a sink of steaming water. Allow to stand for 5 minutes, then remove and spray with orange cleaner until saturated. Place in an empty sink to allow the cleaner to work.
2
Place a thick layer of newspaper on the top of your stove while cleaning to absorb any drips.
3
Spray the range hood vent with orange cleaner until saturated, taking care to avoid the light and cover any crevices. Allow to soak for 15 minutes. While the vent is soaking, rinse the filter with hot water.
4
Scrub the range hood vent with a non-abrasive pad, rinsing the pad often in hot water. The greasy residue will come up easily. Use a brush for hard-to-reach corners and crevices.
5
Rinse the entire underside of the range hood vent, using hot water and replacing the water often.
6
Dry with a paper towel and replace the filter.
