Bathroom Shelving Ideas

Bathroom shelving is an easy and simple way to store the items you use every day, as well as rarely used things. Take a look around your bathroom and you'll likely find plenty of items but not enough room to store most of them. Use some shelves to store your extra towels, first-aid kit and other items you want tucked away. Then, use visible shelves to store the items you use daily, including toiletries and beauty care products. Buy enough bathroom shelves to store all of your bathroom products.

Floating Shelves
Floating shelves get their name because of the way they're hung on the walls, which makes it look as if each shelf is floating. Floating shelves attach to the wall with hidden brackets or fasteners. Another type of floating shelf sits on a special hanger that remains hidden behind the shelf. Arrange the floating shelves in different areas of your bathroom, using different sizes to fit specific areas. Hang one near the bathtub for holding extra towels and another over the sink or under the medicine cabinet for toothpaste and other frequently used products. Floating shelves are made of wood and come in different colors, such as black or neutral wood, to fit different bathroom styles.

Etageres
Etageres are a shelving system that fits snugly over the toilet, with two to four shelves placed above. In smaller bathrooms, this utilizes space you might neglect otherwise. The shelves come in different materials, including metal, wicker and wood. If you have items that you want to hide, look for etageres with cabinets. These have the cabinets on top, with shelves underneath, or multiple cabinets in lieu of shelves. Hide toilet paper, cleaning supplies and personal products inside the cabinets, and place your towels and other items on the shelves.

Armoires
Look for specially made bathroom armoires as another type of bathroom shelving. The armoires have multiple shelves that remain hidden behind cabinet doors. Manufacturers make the armoires in pressed wood, metal, glass and other materials to fit the design style of your bathroom. These differ from traditional armoires in that they're often slimmer and taller. You can also find smaller armoire style pieces that are shorter and fit under bathroom sinks and in tight spaces. The cabinets stack on top of each other for areas where you have more space.
